At the Corner of Native and Succulent - Lewisia

Posted by Emerald Coast Growers on Sep 17th 2024

Like other American phenomena, Lewisia found fame overseas sooner than here at home. It is celebrated in Europe not just as a sturdy garden inhabitant, but also as a low-maintenance flowering house plant.

Rosette-shaped flowers appear in spring through early summer and are available in various colors. This perennial alpine native, commonly known as Bitterroot, is often used in rock gardens and containers with good drainage. It's a favorite for the Pacific Northwest and a low-maintenance, easy-to-grow, evergreen choice for container gardens.

Let's take a look at a lovely little trio of options.
