Bring the Heat with Warm Season Grasses - Miscanthus
Posted by Emerald Coast Growers on Aug 8th 2024
Warm-season grasses respond enthusiastically to longer days and warm soils. They shine brightest through summer and fall, finishing fast with little care.
Miscanthus
Available in various sizes, colors, and variegations, ranging from statuesque x.Giganteus to the purr-fectly compact 'Little Kitten'.Between extremes are longitudinal stripes on wide blades 'Cosmopolitan' and narrow 'Morning Light' and horizontal bars that shimmer in the slightest breeze 'Strictus', 'Gold Bar', and more. Prepare fast retail pots for autumn sales with 'Fire Dragon' and cold hardy to Zone 4,'Purpurascens': They both sport fiery red fall colors.
We carry multiple options from great new breeding that are functionally sterile, like the popular 'Bandwidth' and a new 2025 introduction Miscanthus s. 'Morning Sun'. These infertile ornamental grasses are specifically bred to remove concerns about localized self-sowing. In addition, they also offer vigorous growth and gorgeous extended color from summer to fall.
There really is a Miscanthus for every sunny setting. Below are a few highlights from our vast collection.
