Cortaderia selloana - A Southern Staple.
Posted by Emerald Coast Growers on Apr 26th 2024
Widely used since Victorian times, Cortaderia, well known as pampas grass, is a landscape workhorse that shows like a derby champion.
Cortaderia fills the bill for large landscapes, without breaking the bank. Its long, slender, green blades race to a substantial six feet. Then, in bloom, this giant nearly doubles to an impressive 12' tall.
The massive flowers are held upright, high above arching gray-green foliage. Fluffy and feathery, these ostrich plume blooms are a prized choice for southern gardeners. These pretty plumes are popular in modern, large-scale floral arrangements.
Pampas grass is easy to grow. It tolerates light shade and drought once established. It's hardy for Zones 8-10.
Cortaderia s. 'Rosea'
