Digitalis hybrida Arctic Fox™ Series - Blooms All Summer.
Posted by Emerald Coast Growers on Apr 3rd 2025
This frost tolerant series is bred for long flowering and hardiness. Pollinators and gardeners appreciate the lovely blooms and reblooms that decorate landscapes from spring deep into late summer.
Hardy for Zones 5-9, these hybrid Digitalis offer essential winter hardiness for nothern growers and summer-long flowering for southern growers.
These first-year bloomers do not require vernalization. Unlike the biennials, Digitalis purpurea, the perennial hybrids bloom year after year, providing a dependable multi-s eason feast for passing pollinators.
Mature plants top out at about two feet. This compact size means no staking needed and makes these foxgloves friendly for containers or small gardens.
Strong stems of light - yellow flowers with freckled throats.
Dark rose - pink columns with lightly speckled peachy throats.
Right at your fingertips!
Some say the Latin genus name, which refers to fingers, i.e., digits, originated from an old common name. “Fingerhut” is German for “finger hat,” a sewer’s thimble.
An alternate explanation is that the lovely tubular flower resembles the finger of a glove, with the tip removed. You could easily insert a finger into one of those sweet trumpets, but first, make sure that finger hat doesn’t already contain a bee!
Looking for the perfect addition to your lineup, but couldn’t quite put your finger on it? Now you know. It’s Digitalis h. Arctic Fox™, and it comes in smooth-planting, fast-finishing 72's from Emerald Coast Growers – your easy choice!
