Walberton's® Ivory Prince lights up the late winter garden with masses of large, outward-facing ivory blooms, delicately flushed with pink and accented with green and rose. As the flowers mature, their colors deepen, while striking silver-marbled evergreen foliage keeps the plant attractive long after the blooms have faded.

With its vigorous, uniform growth and dependable performance, it's equally at home in borders, woodland gardens, or decorative containers.

Plant Hellebores in moist, well-drained, fertile soil. In cooler climates, it performs well in full sun, while gardeners in warmer regions will find it happiest in part shade. Once established, Ivory Prince is remarkably drought tolerant.

A layer of mulch provides extra protection in winter, and simply removing older leaves as they age will keep the foliage looking best. After flowering, cut back spent blooms to encourage a neat appearance.

Growing Guide

Planting schedule:

Prior to vernalization, Hellebores require 10 – 14 weeks of rooting establishment during spring/fall conditions with growth slowing in the summer. Heated facilities can be used to extend the season.

Vernalization:

After the growing period, Hellebores require 12 – 15 weeks of vernalization to flower. Vernalization requires that temperature averages do not exceed the 30s at night and 40s in the day.

Fertility:

Feed heavier in the fall and spring during the growing season and lightly in the summer. Increased potassium will help bud formation.

PH:

Hellebores prefer slightly acid media between 5.5 – 5.8.

Light requirements:

Full sun during the cooler months of spring and fall. Cover with 30% shade in summer.
