Pennisetum alopecuroides (commonly known as fountain grass) thrives in late summer and early fall due to the long daylight hours and warm temperatures, which stimulate active growth and fuller foliage. Here’s a grass that’s as cute as a you-know-what. ‘Burgundy Bunny’(PP21917) rises a diminutive 18” tall when it stands on its hind legs – er, when it flowers. Neat clumps of slender green leaves take on rich red accents in summer.
