Indulge us as we brag on some of our favorites.
Carex pensylvanica Pennsylvania sedge (photo above)
North American Native. An excellent ground cover. Foliage is soft and curls gently, turning pale brown for the winter.
This is a multi-talented group whose members shine as individuals or in masses. Carex can edge borders and fill containers. It can be "green mulch" or a lawn alternative. It looks, grows and sells like a grass, but it's actually a sedge, in the Cyperaceae family.

Fine-textured green foliage forms graceful clumps. An American native. Tolerates dry shade.
Zones 3-8
Mature height: 12"

Slender blades of medium green. A native that prefers moist soil and some shade.
Zones 6-9
Mature height: 18"
We carry 32 varied and versatile Carex "flavors" sure to bolster sales. They come in smooth-planting, fast-finishing liners from Emerald Coast Growers – your easy choice!
