Posted by John Friel on Aug 3rd 2021

Here’s a grass that’s as cute as a you-know-what. ‘Burgundy Bunny’(PP21917) rises a diminutive 18” tall when it stands on its hind legs – er, when it flowers. Neat clumps of slender green leaves take on rich red accents in summer. As the season progresses, the whole plant comes ablaze with deep maroon/red blades, topped with creamy-white bunny-tail blooms.‘Burgundy Bunny’ is happiest in full sun to part shade, and is hardy in USDA Zones 6 – 9 (down to Zone 5 depending on surroundings). They’re dazzling in late-afternoon sunlight, and they make a fabulous filler for dried flower arrangements. Height 3 – 4’. Hardy in Zones 5 - 9 The Game of the NameThe vernacul

If there’s a sedge worth screaming about, it may just be ‘Ice Cream’.This garden confection’s winning recipe features minty green stripes alternating with creamy white stripes. Its neat, mounded, spherical habit completes the picture. But don’t keep it in a bowl. Serve it up in a decorative container, or sprinkled generously around the border. ‘Ice Cream’ stands a tidy 12” tall, and is hardy in Zones 6 – 9. And it won’t melt in sun or part shade.Order up a heaping helping of this cool Carex. No n
